Does the SONOPAN contain chemicals products?
The SONOPAN is entirely manufactured with natural products such as recycled wood fibres, starch, water and biological dye.
On which side do go the holes?
The holes always go on the side of the greatest surface of air. Ex: If the panel is directly screwed on half-timbering then the holes face wool, if the panel is screwed on a surface, (cement, gypsum) then the holes will face the part.
On which side of the wall do have I to install Sonopan?
The best manner is to install it in the part from which the noise comes to prevent it from leaving the part, but sometimes it is impossible to proceed in this manner. Therefore, you can also install it in a part where you do not want that the sounds enter.
With which tool does have one to cut the SONOPAN?
Sonopan is easy to cross with a power saw, a manual saw or a gypsum knife.
Which type of inking does one have to use to make hold the SONOPAN?
You can use screws or asphalt paper nails.
Does one have obligatorily to fill cellulose or wool the wall before setting up the SONOPAN?
It is preferable to fill space in the wall using wool or of cellulose to prevent the wall from having a case of resonance.
Is it effective to use wood slats rather as resilient bars?
Not, because the resilient bars absorb the vibrations and detach the screws from the gypsum to the structure of half-timbering. Moreover wood is very conducting noise.
Which type of noise the SONOPAN blocks when it is installed in the ceiling?
The SONOPAN will prevent the airborne sounds from travelling of the part of bottom towards the part top and vice versa. Ex: television, music, voice, etc
Is this possible to install lights embedded with the ceiling?
Yes but one has to expect to lose a little effectiveness on the level of the ceiling, because the more there are holes, the more the sound escapes.
Does use of embedded increase risk of fire?
It is necessary to be ensured to follow the indications of the manufacturer well and to use metal boxes to contain heat of light.
Does the SONOPAN have a fire resistance?
We manufacture a product like the SONOPAN, but treated to offer a fire resistance. The *SONOSECUR offers the same acoustic properties as the SONOPAN, in addition to offering a fire resistance.
Why does one have to rather use gypsum 5/8 ''type X than the 1/2 ''?
The density of gypsum 5/8 '' type X is much higher than gypsum standard ½ '', which contributes to decrease low frequency sounds.
By superimposing two sheets of SONOPAN one on the other, do we manage to double the effectiveness?
The degree of effectiveness will be better but will not double.
Is it possible to place the SONOPAN directly on the wall without gypsum over?
Yes, but the result is not the same one. When you use the SONOPAN inside a wall, you create a barrier, so that the sound remains in the part. On the other case, when you install the SONOPAN directly on a wall, it absorbs the reverberation inside this room. *Always cover the SONOPAN with a fabric in this application if you do not to have green dust on the pieces of furniture of the treated part.
